In addition, she has many years of practice in treating general ophthalmological conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic and degenerative conditions.
Dr. Loh attended the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in National University of Singapore (NUS) and graduated with the M.B,B.S degree. In her year of internship, she was awarded the “Best Houseman Award”. She was selected for training in the inaugural batch of ophthalmology residents in the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). In 2013, she obtained the Young Ophthalmologist Award for best platform presentation at the American Association for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Meeting for her work on myopia.
As one of the key ophthalmologists establishing the presence of the Myopia Centre (SNEC), she championed for greater collaboration between eye specialists and optometrists. She gained extensive experience treating children with atropine eye drops, myopia control glasses and myopia control contact lenses. She co-created the SNEC myopia course that garnered positive feedback from learners, as well as winning multiple awards both locally and internationally. She has also published several peer-reviewed papers on clinical myopia control and has been invited to speak at international and local scientific conferences.
She was part of the clinical faculty at both NUS and the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. Through her commitment to improve healthcare staff wellbeing, she spearheaded many initiatives in her tenure as the Institution Wellness Officer of SNEC, benefitting staff across all departments. She is currently a Visiting Consultant at SNEC.
She recognises the importance of a holistic approach to clinical management based on each patient’s condition and lifestyle needs. For myopia control patients, she aims to achieve optimal results by customising treatment and draws on both her extensive clinical experience as well as her own personal parenting experience.
